I have discovered that I cant upload any of my photos from the iPad to this blog, an email, picasa or yahoo groups REALLY annoying. If anyone can suggest a way to achieve this I will be very grateful.
We have been out of email/net contact for a week and now we are in Christchurch with a very dodgy connection so I have masses to write....here goes
We drove from Rotorua to Lake Taupo across the Central Plateau on another gloriously sunny day. taupe is NZ largest lake and it's where Lucy and Alice did their skydives so as we sat on the shores with our picnic we imagined you jumping from the planes and were glad you didn't tell us until afterwards. lake Taupo sits in the caldera of a volcano formed over 26,000 years ago and the drive around the lakeside as we headed south was just lovely. Just before Taupo we visited Huka Falls and watched tumbling turquoise waters rush down to the Waikato river. On from Taupo we drove south on route 1 skirting the Tongariro National Park with great views of the three mountains of the park including Ngauruhoe - Mount Doom in Lord of the Rings. Tongariro has excellent treks both short and long including the well known Tongariro Alpine
Crossing which is supposed to be one of the greatest one day treks. Next time we'll do some
prep and give it a go hahahahaha as Lucy would say!
We decided to drive to Palmerston North to give us an easy drive the next day to Wellington
and the chance to stop at Pukaha Mt Bruce Wildlife Centre.
To be cont ....
I am going to have to be brief from now on as I hadn't realised how dicey NZ Internet connections are. We are currently in Christchurch and I have spent the last 2hrs trying to add to the blog. The connection drops and I lose all I have written. So follow us on a map and feel the sunshine and imagine the bluest of seas and the most amazing views ever.xxx
